ACH Payments

Specific details for bank transfer (ACH) transactions including mandate handling.

ACH (Automated Clearing House) is a U.S. bank transfer network that allows customers to pay directly from their checking or savings account. ACH payments are typically lower-cost than card payments but take longer to settle.

How ACH Works on Swipe Aras

  1. Customer provides their bank account and routing number at checkout

  2. An ACH debit is initiated from the customer's bank account

  3. Funds transfer through the ACH network (typically 2–5 business days)

  4. Funds settle into your Swipe Aras balance account

  5. Payouts sweep to your bank on your normal settlement schedule

Mandate and Authorization

Swipe Aras stores full ACH metadata for every transaction, including:

  • SEC code — Standard Entry Class code (e.g., PPD for personal accounts, CCD for business)

  • Mandate ID — Reference to the customer's authorization for the debit

  • Sequence type — Whether the authorization is one-time or recurring

This information is required for ACH compliance and dispute handling.

ACH Returns

ACH transactions can be returned by the customer's bank (equivalent to a card decline or reversal). ACH returns are handled separately from card chargebacks and appear in your transaction history as returned items.

ACH availability depends on your account configuration. Contact your account manager to confirm ACH is enabled for your stores.
