Swipe Aras operates on the Adyen Balance Platform — Adyen’s infrastructure for payment facilitators and platforms. Understanding how this works helps clarify why certain account behaviors exist.

• Adyen is the licensed financial institution and payment processor

• Swipe Aras is Adyen’s platform partner — we manage the infrastructure, compliance, and your onboarding

• You are the merchant Account Holder on Adyen’s Balance Platform (via Swipe Aras)

• Your stores each have an Adyen Balance Account where funds are held

• You never interact with Adyen directly. Swipe Aras manages the Adyen relationship on your behalf.

Swipe Aras operates two Adyen merchant accounts that process payments:

Your transactions are routed to the appropriate merchant account automatically based on the payment type. You don’t configure this directly.

Why Some Things Can’t Change After Account Creation

Because Swipe Aras operates on Adyen’s Balance Platform, some configuration decisions made at onboarding are permanent:

• Balance account default currency is set at creation and cannot be changed

• MCC (Merchant Category Code) is set at the account holder level and applies to all stores

• Transfer Instrument (bank account) can be changed, but requires a new hosted onboarding session
